{"id":1761,"date":"2012-02-02T12:36:13","date_gmt":"2012-02-02T16:36:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mpomy.com\/?p=1761"},"modified":"2012-02-02T12:37:50","modified_gmt":"2012-02-02T16:37:50","slug":"this-neil-young-thing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mpomy.com\/?p=1761","title":{"rendered":"This Neil Young Thing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Borrowed Tune, by Neil Young:<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/C5-Uqj8TwZk\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Listening to this song on the way to work this morning, and listening to a couple other tracks from the same album (<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tonight's_the_Night_(Neil_Young_album)\">Tonight&#8217;s The Night<\/a>) during the overnight shift while feeding my newborn son has made me realize that a big Neil Young thing is starting. \u00a0This happens from time to time and it&#8217;s always good news. \u00a0I don&#8217;t seek it out or plan for it, and there&#8217;s no trigger, like a new album or a concert experience, but I know what I want to do with this now that it&#8217;s happening.<\/p>\n<p>Since the last time I wrote on this blog, my life has fundamentally changed. \u00a0I am the father of a one-month-old baby boy. \u00a0I am filled with such indescribable joy. \u00a0And in those late night hours, when I want to calm this boy and get him back to his peaceful rest, I try to sing him something. \u00a0Most of the time, it ends up being Neil Young songs.<\/p>\n<p>I like to say that shaky Neil (along with Pink Floyd) are the reason I love music so much. \u00a0These are the sounds that got it all started, that made me the mad collector and fueled my love of guitar. \u00a0But I&#8217;m so different than I was\u00a0twenty\u00a0years ago, in my room upstairs at my parents&#8217; house, playing along and trying to learn\u00a0everything\u00a0on &#8216;Live Rust&#8217; by ear, and then by heart.
